In central Portugal, Menizas d'Aire blankets are made in a small, family-run workshop that has remained almost unchanged over the years. Far from mass production, each piece is created using recycled cotton and traditional machines that are still in use today. These blankets reflect a slower, more thoughtful way of making textiles.
The machines are old and the space is simple, but the quality of the work is remarkable. Each piece is finished by hand, giving the blankets a unique texture and character. I had the chance to visit the workshop myself, as I like to be involved in the design process and understand how products are made. What stood out to me was not only the authenticity of the place, but also the level of craftsmanship behind every piece. It’s a more grounded and thoughtful way of producing textiles, and a real alternative to mass production.
