General terms and conditions

Maison Altana - Interior Design

1. Purpose

These Terms and Conditions of Sale define the rights and obligations of Maison Altana, represented by Lisa Marion Reppert, regarding the sale of home decor products (such as rugs, cushions, blankets, and similar items) within Europe and the United Kingdom.

By placing an order on the Maison Altana online shop, the customer acknowledges having read and fully accepted these Terms and Conditions of Sale.

2. Orders and Availability

Orders are placed via the Maison Altana online store. All products are made in Portugal, and some are handmade in limited quantities. Maison Altana reserves the right to update product availability and prices at any time. In the event an ordered item becomes unavailable, the customer will be notified promptly and offered either a replacement or a refund.

3. Pricing and Payment Terms

All prices are listed in euros (€) and include all applicable taxes (VAT included). Shipping fees are displayed during checkout and depend on the delivery destination. Maison Altana accepts payments by credit or debit card only. Orders are confirmed once payment has been successfully received. The customer is responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or additional fees that may apply depending on the destination country.

4. Shipping and Delivery

Maison Altana ships orders across the European Union and the United Kingdom. Orders are processed within 3 to 10 working days, depending on product availability. Delivery times vary depending on the destination and postal service. Maison Altana is not responsible for delays caused by customs, postal services, or force majeure events. Customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or additional fees that may apply when the order arrives in their country. These costs are not included in the product or shipping prices. Once shipped, the customer receives a confirmation email including tracking information (where available).

5. Returns and Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with European consumer protection law, customers have the right to withdraw from their purchase within 14 days after receiving the product, without providing any reason. To exercise this right, the customer must send a written request by email to contact@maisonaltana.com within the 14-day period. Products must be returned in their original condition and packaging, unused, and at the customer's expense (except in the case of a defective or incorrect item). Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

6. Product Information and Handcrafted Nature

All products are made in Portugal. Some items are handcrafted, which means that minor variations in color, texture, or size are inherent and are not considered defects. Maison Altana strives to display products as accurately as possible, but colors may vary slightly due to screen settings.

7. Liability

Maison Altana cannot be held responsible for delays, loss, or damage during delivery once the parcel has been handed to the carrier. For damaged parcels, customers must contact Maison Altana within 48 hours of delivery, with supporting photos, to facilitate a claim with the shipping carrier.

8. Intellectual Property

All photos, product descriptions, designs, and texts displayed on the Maison Altana website remain the exclusive property of Maison Altana and cannot be used or reproduced without prior written permission.

9. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All personal information collected when placing an order such as your name, postal address, email address, and payment details is used exclusively for order processing, shipping, and customer communication. Your personal data will never be sold or shared with unauthorized third parties. However, certain data may be shared with trusted partners solely when necessary, such as:

  • Shipping carriers (to ensure correct delivery of your order),

  • Payment service providers (to securely process your payment), and

  • Website hosting or analytics providers (for technical or statistical purposes only).

Maison Altana ensures that all partners comply with data protection standards. Customers have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal information at any time. All personal data is stored securely and retained only for the time necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (e.g., order tracking, accounting obligations, or after-sales service).

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and Conditions are governed by Portuguese law. In case of a dispute, the parties will first seek an amicable solution. Failing agreement, the matter will be submitted to the competent Portuguese courts.
